HOW WE LISTEN

We know everyone communicates differently, how each person expresses and receives information varies from one person to another. At Disability Connect our starting priority is engaging with you, and the people who know you well to develop your communication profile. This allows you to communicate effectively to us, about all aspects of your life, and what you want:

  • Views and wishes

  • Goals and aspirations

  • Likes/ Dislikes

  • What is important to you and for you

  • How you would like to be supported

  • What profile of staff you want to be supported by

  • What is working well

  • What needs to change

HOW WE ACT

At Disability Connect we do not say we listen to ‘tick a box’ we actively listen ,hear what you
are saying and act on it. This ensures that your communication about how you want to live your life becomes a reality:

  • Your views and wishes about the day to day running of your home become our guidelines

  • The staff profile you give us informs your teams core sets of skills and attributes

  • You are part of your teams training through content input, or in active training delivery

  • The way you want to be supported at home, and in the community guides staff practice

  • We make sure you are aware of your rights, and empower you to build capacity, and ensure they are upheld

  • Your views and preferences may change, so we make sure you have mechanisms for feedback

HOW WE ENSURE

At Disability Connect we are passionate about making sure you are safe, happy and your rights are upheld. We have quality and governance strategies, so we can make sure, what we say is what we do:

  • Making sure you have all the information you need, in an accessible manner so you understand your rights

  • Staff trained and supported well, so they have the skills and knowledge to support you well

  • Service Manager in place who visits regularly, reviews records, practice, communicates

    directly with you

  • Quality practice director who reviews practice, progress and outcomes

  • Quality and governance processes to inform continuous improvement

  • Internal and external audits to make sure we meet the NDIS Quality standards and maintain
